Bio, fair Trade, Social Compliance?

Which bags are the most environmentally friendly, and which are socially responsible? Questions that customers and users are quick to ask, but also ones that cannot be answered in a single sentence. At Joytex®, we would like to make this assessment easier, and have developed a ‚footprint system‘ – you can find corresponding footprints on every bag in this catalogue. This is not an exercise in greenwashing – we and our customers need to be aware that every product uses resources, and a bag is sustainable only as long as it‘s reused multiple times.

If you need help making a ‘conscious’ bag purchasing decision, you can call us any time!

Let‘s find out what route our bags take.
Our bags are sourced from the manufacturing countries of China and India. All bags printed in Germany – as well as those printed for you in Asia – are transported by sea to Rotterdam on container ships, and from there our containers are brought by inland vessels along the Rhine to the port of Emmerich. From there, we transport it to our premises by truck for only another 25 km. As far as we can judge, this method of transportation couldn‘t be made any more environmentally friendly.

We make an impression – without the use of solvents.
We always print with eco-friendly and solvent-free plastisol inks according to the OEKO-TEX® 100 Standard. The OEKO-TEX® 100 Standard also applies to the fabric of all our bags, provided that they are free of zips, rivets or Velcro.

You can depend on it – certified quality in every bag.

OEKO-TEX® 100 – certificate
We offer all of our cotton and non-woven bags with 100% OEKO-TEX® 100 Standard certification. That means the materials are free of harmful substances and environmental pollutants. See www.oeko-tex.com

BSCI (Amfori) – certificate
Almost all of our bags are BSCI-certified. That means they comply with all labour and employment standards and an ethical code of conduct is observed. A good thing – for a good conscience. See www.amfori.org

What‘s more, Joytex has been working together with the same suppliers in Asia for more than 30 years. Due to this long-term collaboration, as well as the production and investment security this provides, good conditions have been established for workers at the production sites.

Environmental protection and ethical conduct have been a practised reality at Joytex® for years, not just a passing fad.

Whichever choice your conscience guides you towards, we hope it will be a Joytex product. If that‘s the case, we pledge to give our best for ‘your bag’.

WHICH BAG MATERIAL IS THE MOST ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY?

To judge whether a bag is sustainable and environmentally friendly, we at Joytex ask the following questions:
• How many times can a bag be reused and how durable is it?
• Can the bag be recycled?
• Which resources does this require?

100% OEKO-TEX® Cotton
Our bags are quality-sewn with high robustness. They can be used for many, many, many shopping trips. 100% cotton can be disposed of in textile recycling or mixed waste bins. Cotton is a renewable and Natureal raw material.

100% BIO – Cotton
Our bags are quality-sewn with high robustness. They can be used for many, many shopping trips. 100% cotton can be disposed of in textile recycling or mixed waste bins. ORGANIC cotton is a renewable raw material, grown in an environmentally-friendly way without pesticides.

100% OEKO-TEX® Premium Non-Woven
Our non-woven PP bags are made of 100% polypropylene. Even though this is a synthetic material, it is highly serviceable – especially if it‘s used frequently – and doesn‘t necessarily harm the environment any more than other materials listed here. What‘s important is long-term use! Our premium non-woven bags can be used for many, many, many shopping trips and are particularly tear-resistant! This material is extremely suitable for recycling.

100% Polyester bags
Our fine-knit polyester jersey fabric is wrinkle-free and very light. This is due to its high tear resistance and particularly low material requirements. That‘s why, in an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung, polyester bags were judged to be particularly environmentally friendly according to the Federal Environment Agency.

Kraft paper bags in 100% OEKO-TEX® premium non-woven
100% recycled paper exterior, interior: non-woven PP – This combination of materials gives a bag made of kraft paper the durability and tear resistance of a non-woven bag. The most sustainable version of a paper bag, one that can be used over and over again. The two materials can be separated and recycled.
